Status: CommonRange: Naturally found throughout the interior of Australia.Habitat: Open scrubland, woodland, and grassland.Food: Seeds from grasses and crop plants.Reproduction: Mature males have a blue colored cere (skin covering the nostrils) while mature females have a light brown cere. They are monogamous and can breed any time during the year but usually when seeds are abundant. Females can lay four to eight eggs which they incubate for an average of 18 days.Facts: The domesticated budgerigar is the most popular pet bird around the world and is considered one of the best parrot species to imitate human speech. A variety of plumage colors and patterns have been bred in captivity.
