Burmese Python

Status: Declining in the wild. Invasive in Florida.Range: Burma (Myanmar), India, Indochina, China.Habitat: Tropical forests, grasslands.Food: Small mammals, birds.Reproduction: Females may deposit and incubate up to 100 eggs. The female coils her body around the eggs and rests her head on top. Hatchlings are 18-24 inches (46-61 cm) long.Facts: Burmese pythons average 18-20 feet (5-6 m) long as adults. Pythons kill their prey by constriction. Since their teeth are not adapted for chewing, they must swallow their prey whole.
