Status: Threatened.Range: Australia, Tasmania, Aru Islands, and New Guinea.Habitat: Open forested land.Food: Nectar, pollen, berries, and soft fruit.Reproduction: Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the hatchlings. The clutch consists of 2-4 eggs that incubate for 21-26 days.Facts: The tips of their tongues resemble paintbrushes, giving them the ability to quickly lap up large quantities of nectar. Their beaks are not as strong as other parrots’ beaks, so they do not eat hard shelled seeds and nuts as other parrots do.
